If you have previously received a breast augmentation procedure, you may eventually find that you need to replace your existing implants. New breast implants help you maintain the balanced, healthier and more attractive appearance of your treatment so that you can continue to enjoy the confidence and positive self-image of your breast augmentation.
There are a variety of reasons why your breast implants may need to be replaced, including:
• Implants that have leaked or deflated
• Implants that have changed shape
• Scar tissue has caused capsular contraction or other problems with the implant
• Changes in body weight or breast position require a change of implant size
Your breast implant exchange procedure is similar to your first breast augmentation. Our plastic surgeon will usually use the old incision lines to remove your old implants and replace them with new ones, as this minimizes post-procedure scaring. However, if your new implants are a different type or size than your previous ones, or if the positioning has changed, we may need to create a new incision to place your implant.
Breast implant exchanges are also often performed in conjunction with other procedures, such as a breast lift, to improve breast appearance.
We invite you to call Dermatology & Plastic Surgery Specialists at 760-773-6616 to schedule your individual consultation with Dr. Natalie Driessen and to learn more about breast implant exchange in Palm Desert, California.
